On Saturday, we got up fairly early to go watch Bobby play softball in a tournament in Haslett. It turned out not to be a tournament because one team did not show up, which worked well for us as we made some last minute plans to head north for the evening. The Bath Bees lost the first game against Haslett, but came out on top at their second game, so they ended the day 1-1. It was a really nice day for watching softball.

After Bobby was done playing we started preparing for our quick jaunt up to Buckley. What possessed us to drive all the way to Traverse City for the evening, only to turn around the next morning to come home, you ask!? Well, on Friday, I found out that Seth & two of his band buddies were playing at The Buckley Bar in, of course, Buckley, MI. Fully knowing that Rhonda would not miss out on a chance to see friends (Seth) while they were in the area, I KNEW she would be heading out to Buckley to see and watch Seth (and Luke & Clint) play. Because I had missed the chance to see her the Saturday prior, Bob and I decided it would be really great to surprise her by just being at the bar when she showed up. So, we asked Bobby, Jake, Amber & Sam if they were interested in a road trip and if they wanted to see a really, really awesome country/western (even though partial for the evening) band play. Amber and Sam ended up not going, however, Bobby and Jake went, enjoying themselves for the most part. We arrived in Buckley around 7pm and then went on to southern Traverse City to find a hotel, since we couldn't crash Rhonda knowing her mom was visiting her from SJ as well. We got the room and headed back to Buckley for dinner and wait for the band to begin and for Rhonda to show up. -I think Rhonda was surprised to walk through the door and the first thing she sees is friends from 3-1/2 hours away from our home to just see her and a band - What great friends we are! Though Rhonda and her mom didn't stay out too late, we ended up closing the bar down... Not because we were drinking, but because we could NOT leave before Seth, Luke & Clint were done playing and boy was it worth it! We had so much fun Saturday. And even though The Radiators play for the most part "broken hearted - shoot your cheating woman down" type music we are EXTREMELY happy to be their "private party" (our wedding) as indicated on their Manure Tour schedule. Seth, Luke and Clint were so much fun, we can't wait, as Seth would put it to hear "electrified rockabilly" when the other two band members play with them. (By the way, they will be playing on May 29th at Rubbles in Mt. Pleasant, which I'm sure we will be attending.)
I do have some video of the evening, but haven't loaded up it up yet. The sound quality isn't that good due to being in such a small venue with the acoustics bouncing everywhere. The viewing quality is quite low as well due to lack of lighting and of course, that's because we were in a bar... I will load a couple up just for viewing purposes though. One video I will be loading is one where Seth did a Tom Petty tribute due to a request... Those of you who know, it will pull at your heart strings. Thank you Seth! The other video will be a request for some Johnny Cash that Luke accidentally slotters Cocaine Blues, but is laughing all the way through. Classic moments of fun!! This is what life is about!
