The morning after the wedding, we awoke to breakfast being made at House in Woods. We cleaned, pack up and moved out around 11am. Bob and I got back to the apartment, hung out for a little bit and repacked for our trip to the U.P. We left around 2:30pm, however, by time we made it to the Maple River State Game Area, we couldn't take it any longer. I had already passed out in the passenger seat, so Bob pulls into the parking lot for the gaming area & we ended up taking an hour and half nap. When we woke, we both felt a little more refreshed and ended up making it to Sault Ste. Marie around 8:30 -9pm. We got a room at the casino, had some quick dinner, tried to gamble, but called it quits around 11:30. We finally bought a new camera in Sault Ste Marie so that we could have pictures of our trip. We headed out of town about 10:30am and traveled towards Paradise and the Tahquamenon Falls. From there we headed towards Deer Park to land in Grand Marais. The "road" from Deer Park to Grand Marais did not prove successful and we had to turn around 20 minutes into that journey. By this point we were almost out of fuel, in the middle of the woods on this two track, praying we would make it to a gas station. Once we got back on a main road, we coasted into Grand Marais for gas, took a short break and finished the trip in Munising. Ummm... not the prettiest town in the state. We went out to the national forest where we saw a bald eagle hanging out in a tree watching the people below (this was my first time seeing an eagle in real life). We stayed one night, went back to the national forest to get a couple pictures of the Pictured Rocks before heading south. We followed the Michigan Coast line all the way to Charlevoix where we spent our last night together on vacation. Next up was Bud Bash 2008 at Houghton Lake. Lots of friends, lots of boats, lots of fun and a ton of memories! We stayed at the family cabin again. However, this year we had no major issues!! Bud Bash 2008 Pictures.
The following weekend was the annual Mint Festival weekend in St. Johns. Lesa and I went up to the park with Bobby and one of her girlfriends, while Bob helped his dad roof his garage. This was a working, but relaxing weekend... and oh so nice!
On August 16th, we decided to go spend some time with my family up at my Grandma Katz's place. She lives on a lake, so we took the boat and invited Bob's nephews, Gordon and Dylan to come along. We "convinced" Brandon and Kim to come as well and got to spend time with Peyton, Aunt Vanessa, Uncle Lynn and of course my mom and dad and sister Traci. This was a very relaxing weekend and was reminiscent of times spent up north when me and my cousins were all much younger!

Finally, this past weekend, my cousin Andy threw a surprise birthday party for his brother, Brandon at the apartment down at the pavilion. He had been wanting to do something special for Brandon for a while and came up with this idea. Of course, you know, when we have parties at the pavilion, it's going to rain after dark... what do you do, but to make the best of it! Earlier in the day we had invited people out that had kids so they could do some tubing before summer ended. I think everyone had a blast that day. It was a perfect sunny day for all this excitement!

Next up for Labor Day weekend, Brandon, Kim, Andy, Jen, Bob and I (along with Bobby and Jake) are heading up to the Indian River. We will spend the whole day floating from Cheboygan down to Burt Lake and back to round out our summer. We can't wait, this is something we both have never done, but have wanted to try it for the last couple summers.
Now, for all you who are just plain antsy to see wedding pictures, I have posted a handful. I am still working on them, trying to decide what to print and what not. But here they are...
