Has it really been a month and a half since my last post? Seems to be (but at least I'm not the only one lagging behind, I see many of my friends are too!). Anyway, life's been busy and frankly I've been lazy when it comes to stuff like this.
The rest of March was pretty uneventful. Bob finally started finishing up our chicken coup, so we could move the chickens out to their new home, since they were outgrowing, what we like to call, the "coffin." Though it's not completely finished - Bob has some finishing touches and "decorations" he would like to add - it's much better than it looked 2 months ago, and the chickens seem to really like it! (they are only chickens, right, so what's it really matter!)
The above album is our little farm that we've started. We started with 8 chicks in February, very quickly was reduced to 6 chicks, much thanks to the dogs. Right after we got back from our Florida vacation, the family husky decided yet again, she needed another snack, so again, we lost another chicken; the mother hen that was trying to protect her flock (now we have a new mother hen that, we swear is a witch!). Bob and I decided since our flock was diminishing pretty quickly, so we went back to TSC and bought 6 more chicks and I just couldn't resist the ducklings, they are just too darned cute! Then, our niece and nephew wanted to get chicks, so we told them to go ahead, bring them over. So, as a total we will have 13 chickens, of all different variety colors and 2 ducks! We're hoping the 5 oldest chickens will start laying eggs soon, since they are going on about 3 months old. However, if the mother hen doesn't quick trying to peck the little chicks and ducks through the fence, we may be having ourselves a nice roasted chicken for dinner one night! Thankfully, the chicks and ducks are pretty safe from the older chickens. We built a make shift pen for them just on the other side of the coup so they could be outside now that it is getting warmer; the coffin was getting too crowded and hot for them.
The first week in April we took a nice week long vacation to Florida with my (Dawn's) family. It was a much needed and much deserved break from the reality of work and life. Sleeping in until 7:30-8am, drinks by the pool, sunshine, 80+ degree weather, being with family. It was wonderful! By the time the week was coming to a close, we were ready to be sleeping in our own bed again and working at the homestead for the Spring clean up. Here's a few pictures for the fun of it.
Right now, Bobby is in the middle of her last year on the Bath Varsity Softball team. She is the only Senior on the team this year. Though we've been trying to make all the games, we fail, as we are just busy with so many other things. She's doing very well this year; when she's on she's hitting to the fence.
Other than that, life is! Just for the fun of it, here are some pictures of our lovely trees and flowers in our yard - Spring sure has been beautiful at our house!

Gosh I wish I could make my flowers look like that (but I'm sure that would entail some hard, hard, work that I just can't bring myself to do!!!) It looks fantastic.
